Crash Ensemble - [R E A C T I O N S] - Ireland
New Music Dublin 2021 New Music Dublin was held online this year. Several musicians, music ensembles, artists, producers, composers brought us over 15 virtual performances with 33 world premieres of new music compositions and it was streamed on http://newmusicdublin.ie. A quote of the sheer effort to bring this festival to fruition is below. So New Music Dublin 2021 is, explicitly, a festival for lockdown conditions. It’s a set of ideas, a programme made up of solutions to the question posed above: how do we make music together, when we can’t be together? These solutions stretch from how to get orchestras back together – both on stage, and remotely – through to making music individually, and from music beamed-over-thousands-of-miles internationally, to wholly u…

Silk Chroma - Visual Music Piece
I was lucky to be involved in the creation of the visual music visuals for a collaborative work entitled "Silk Chroma". Working as a collaborative team to create this work was a wonderful experience. The Irish composer Linda Buckley was a pleasure to work with and the electro-acoustic composition that she composed is beautiful. Linda and I worked closely together to realise the ideas for the work, interestingly Linda described much of the music she would like to create in visual terms that really appealed to me and inspired the visuals. Similarly some visuals and still images that I created inspired sounds and timbres for Linda. Good stuff. Silk Chroma is an audio-visual work that is inspired by the novella Silk by Alessandro Baricco as a conceptual f…

Nancy Herman - Visual Music
Nancy creates visual music works in both BlissPaint and Flash as the artist says, she creates "work that actually could be 'played' in real time if the colors were attached to keys on a musical key board." Her desire is to create an instrument that could play color in time. The key issue for Nancy is to "'tune' the color through several spectra creating a smooth transition from light to dark. I think the color itself will create the 'music' over time- note the shapes of the color, or the way the color moves". Source: Artist website - www.nancyherman.com Nancy has created several of these color in time works and they are available to preview on her website at: http://visualmusic.nancyherman.com/ Link to Satie's Gymnopo…

This Narrator is Blind - Experimental Video
The title of the video refers to the legend of Homerus, the ancient greek author, who wrotes beautiful poems, although he was blind.  "the video it's , let's say, an accidental video; I was very sad and nervous, filming the sun behind some leaves, till I saw these fast and continuously changing figures... I thought that my camera was going crazy, like myself. Than , some months later, I recorded a guitar base, and edited those images on the music."  Video Artist: Ruggero YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiajnXGQjBw http://www.myspace.com/spicchio http://www.vimeo.com/user138786 [Italy]

Dissociative Fugue video - Stretta
See Video on You Tube "This was an attempt to visualize some of the abstract noise that goes on inside my head when listening to music. At first blush, it may not seem that different from a software visualizer. Unfortunately, visualizers are bound by the analysis of a stereo mix. While a it may extract information from certain frequency ranges, it can't really tell a clarinet from a duduk and represent each discretely. Here, each element has its own visual counterpart."
