Video - Jan Mayen directed by Michael Fragestein
"Jan Mayen" is the title for a music video directed by Michael Fragstein at Büro Achter April for Boozoo Bajou´s Album '4'. The video is really beautiful. Abstract as the director says just like the music. There are some really lovely animations of forms into and out of other forms and I love the colour combinations. Very intersting work being created by Michael and his team at Büro Achter April, they are based in Stuttgart, Germany. Work divided into stills, motion, design engineering and interactive with the really relevant subtitle "Digitale Form". Sensology - Michel Gagné - 1996 to 2010
Many animation techniques were used and experimented with in this film. "Sensology is a short animated film by Michel Gagné that visualizes in abstract form, an improvised musical session by two leaders of the avant-guarde jazz movement, Paul Plimley (piano) and Barry Guy (bass). The film was started in August 2006 and completed in July 2010. ... Sensology was handdrawn (painted) with a Wacon tablet at first, and later, a Cintiq, using Adobe Photoshop. The drawings and frames were then composited and manipulated in a 2D software called Animo. There is no vector animation at any point in the film." Vimeo Video Channels
There are some really interesting vimeo channels showcasing contemporary work in the audio visual field. These channels are a great opportunity to see what is going on with audio visual work/art/music today. They also demonstrate how many different fields that audio visual works are taking place in - such as in installation settings, as interfaces, in gallery spaces, as films and animations led by music collaborations and music label collaborations - there are just so many ways now in which audio and visual are being put together...I like to still call all these approaches visual music. Steve Beck - Illuminated music
Steve Beck - Illuminated Music "The composition itself was considered a form of “visual jazz” by Beck, in that the basic visual structure of the work remained in place from performance to performance, yet subject to the visual themes and variations changing in each interpretation. Two of the Illuminated Music performances by Beck and Jepson were broadcast nationally on the PBS network as part of the “Videospace Electronic Notebooks” series produced by the National Center for Experiments in Television. "Illuminated Music" first emerged as both a neologism and a live performance on KQED TV in San Francisco on May 19, 1972, when Beck preformed live, on the air with his Beck Direct Video Synthesizer to the jazz music "Like It Is" by the master of j…
