Visualising Music
Came across this amazing video demonstrating a visualising of music created with software. The YouTube video channel belongs to username inwit and there are a few more videos of this visualising of music - incredible stuff.

Dancing with Mathematica
DANCING WITH MATHEMATICA - PART OF THE CAMBRIDGE SCIENCE FESTIVAL Music, generated in Mathematica, by composer Katarina Miljkovic; chereograhy by Dawn Kramer; video projections by Stephen Buck; performance by Dawn Kramer and Brian McCook. Event at Cambridge Science Festival - Boston US Dancing with Mathematica - The Broad Institute, 7 Cambridge Center - 26th April 2009 Dancing with Mathematica is a journey through complexity in movement, bady projection and sound. Music and choreography are structured on four classes of complexity, proposed by Stephen Wolfram A New Kind of Science. While music develops by evolution of cellular automata, from simple to universally complex, choreography reflects on the nature of choice, questions the concept of self as a dolid, separate…

Ned Resnikoff - Illustrated, music movies
frame from Erev Shel Shoshanim youtube video Erev Shel Shoshanim: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaOPB2qptdw Ned Resnikoff - Illustrated, music movies Ned Resnikoff creates incredible illustrated music movies with his own software program Vizzy. The images for the movies are mathematical representations of audio data. Check out his movies on his website and on youtube. Ned is a musician who has combined his interests in music and mathematics by applying wavelet filters to audio analysis. He works on software tools to make sound and music something we can see, understand, and modify in new ways. Book - The Visual Mind - Art and Mathematics
Book - The Visual Mind - Art and Mathematics "Scientific visualization, higher-dimensional geometries, 3D computer modeling, computer animation, and imaginary and virtual environments are just a few of the ground-breaking areas in which artists and mathematicians are exchanging ideas and working together. The Visual Mind introduces a new universe of mathematical images, forms, and shapes in media ranging from drawings to computer graphics, as well as discussion of the methods used to create these works. These 35 chapters are by mathematicians concerned with the visual fruits of their computations and by visual artists concerned with the mathematical origins and inspirations of their works. They are divided into sections covering Geometry and Visualization; Co…

Topological Slide - Michael Scroggins - Stewart Dickson
Michael Scroggins - Immersive VR and Absolute Animation Art and Virtual Environments Project "Mathematicians often describe the nature of certain topological surfaces by describing what it would be like to "take a walk" on the surface. The Topological Slide uses immersive virtual reality technology to provide this type of direct sensual experience. "The 'rider' will wear a head mounted display enabling an interactive wide-angle stereo view of a three-dimensional space. The space will consist of a model of a topological surface to which the platform is bound and upon which it is free to slide. The 'rider' may traverse the model's surface by leaning in the direction in which she desires to move. The amount of lean in a given…
